In 2008 the Netherlands and Georgia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to express their intention for continued cooperation in the future. Part of this MoU is the agreement that the VROM-Inspectorate, together with the Georgian Inspectorate for Eonvironment Protection, will prepare a tangible multiyear Action Programme, in order to come to an even more succesful cooperation.
InfoMil is leading a number of projects for the Dutch Ministry of Environment in Georgia. These projects relate to various environmental policy fields. Streamlining of these activities is desired and will be part of the Action Programme.
- Professionalisation of the Georgian environmental Inspectorate
InfoMil, in close cooperation with the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment (IM), supports the professionalisation of the Environmental Inspectorate in Georgia. The Inspectorate, state agency-subordinated to the Ministry of the Environment Protection and Natural Recourses, is responsible to execute the state environmental control.
- Developing the National Environmental Action Plan (NEAP)
InfoMil in close cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment (IM) supports the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia in process of developing the National Environmental Action Plan (NEAP). The ownership is an important element of the project. The Dutch experts advice on the process and the content of the NEAP, however the text of the NEAP is formulated by the Georgian counterpart.
